In an unprecedented move, comedian/host/author Bill Maher descended upon Washington, D.C. for two live shows— presented back-to-back without a break—on Friday, September 12. That night, the longtime host of Real Time with Bill Maher® took his series on the road, and hosted a new live edition that aired at a special time of 9 p.m. from Sidney Harman Hall – in which he revealed the “winner” of his season-long “Flip a District” segment. Then, immediately following the conclusion of Real Time, Maher proceeded to the Warner Theatre, where another, entirely different audience welcomed him onstage for an all-new, one-hour stand-up comedy special: Bill Maher: Live from D.C. The new stand-up special, which aired live at 10 p.m., was Maher’s tenth solo special for the network since his HBO debut in 1989. Among the topics that Maher covered: the midterm elections, income inequality, the Republican psyche, a Trump lawsuit, why the Pope is an atheist, and why tattoos are stupid.
